Blarghhh!
I could just leave this post at the title, but I feel like I owe you some content. I have unfortunately been feeling rather Blarghhh! over the last week. And the week before I spent pretty much entirely in a theatre (I may have menitoned at some point that I do crew work of amateur dramatics. This has left me slightly behind on both programming and work for my course.
Anywhom, time to stop complaining.
It's nearly time for our mass celebration of pointless consumerism with faint references to religion, and so the world is slowly grinding to a halt. And chocolate. That's happening to.
I think the situation is summed up brilliant by Tim Minchin's lyrics from White Wine in the Sun:
I'm looking forward to Christmas It's sentimental, I know, but I just really like it I am hardly religious I'd rather break bread with Dawkins than Desmond Tutu, to be honest And yes, I have all of the usual objections to consumerism The commercialisation of an ancient religion And the westernisation of a dead Palestinian Press-ganged into selling Playstations and beer But I still really like it I, I really like Christmas Though I'm not expecting a visit from Jesus I'll be seeing my dad My brother and sisters, my gran and my mum They'll be drinking white wine in the sunAs well as being an absolutely beautiful song, Tim has managed to capture the complete meaning of Christmas in this current day and age.
And so, may I wish you, the reader, a happy holiday, surrounded by the love of friends and family; and, for those who believe, the infinite hospitality of God
